Obviously...

I'm not going to keep this blog up anymore. I have way too much to do these days. I am going to try and keep Harrison's blog up, though. www.ourlittleweeone.blogspot.com

Maybe one day I'll be able to do this one again...

I got lost...

Sorry, to all my readers out there, who I'm sure are gone by now since it has been FOREVER since I've posted on this blog. Sorry, but mommy-land has taken over my brain. I got lost in this mommy thing, and I haven't had a single non-baby-related thought since May 27th.

Okay, so I thought I should write SOMETHING on this so people know I'm still blonde and I'm still here. I haven't had any blonde moments, really, lately.

I'm so excited because I'm going to the Phantom of the Opera in a few weeks. I saw it when I was in Grade 5, but, you know, with time you forget things. Brian has offered to babysit my niece nad nephew and watch Harrison, so it will be a good night. I liked the live musical better than the movie, but the movie was good too.

Brian is finishing our basement. WOO HOO!!!! He got a lot done when his dad was here last week. We are going to pay to get it mud and taped, though. If you are in Calgary and you know anyone that muds and tapes and has a spare moment to do our basement...let us know! Harrison slept through all of the framing, which was FAN-TASTIC!!

Our car is dying. The air conditioner is broken. I took it in to get it looked at to see what was wrong and get it fixed -- I asked the guy to call me first before he fixed it to make sure I wanted to go ahead with the cost...COUGH COUGH COUGH. I about died when he told me the cost -- $700 HA HA HA HA HA HA to fix my air conditioner? I just fixed it myself -- I like to call it allwindowsdowntioner. We just dumped $700 into our car to get other crap fixed. I want a new car. I miss my nice car. I will learn to live with this car...

I still haven't resolved the income tax situation...will work on that.

Well, thought I would just post since it has been a while.

I hope there are still a few readers left out there in blogland.

The Da Vinci Code Movie Review

Well, Brian and I decided to head out to an early movie last night since he got home from work early, and we are trying to take advantage of these last few days just us! We both read the Da Vinci Code in the last few weeks, so we decided to go see that. It wasn't amazing, but it was good. I didn't like a few of the changes they made to Hollywoodize it, but nonetheless, it was pretty good. I would recommend it as a rental, though, probably not waste my money in the big theatre. We have buy-one-get-one-free passes coming out the wazzoooooo for the movies, so we don't mind going there. I think the book was better than the movie, by far, but I usually think that, and I think that's because my mind gets to make up what people look like and everything.

We are having a BBQ today. We wanted to have one last shindig at our house before the baby came, and we just never got around to planning one. Today is my birthday, so Brian has invited a few people over to come and play. Happy 25th to me! I thought for sure I'd be a mom before my bday this year, but no such luck! I'm still holding out for a bday baby LOL. Baby is due tomorrow!

That's it from this oh-so-exciting house!

The sign of a great hairdresser...

You can leave the hairdresser and go on with your day and not run home to redo it so you look normal. Thanks, Tammy, for being so great! I got a lot of compliments on my haircut yesterday! I love it! You rock!!!

Hands in my pockets, Hands in my pockets...

Yesterday was just one of those days. It was one of those days where I just feel like EVERYONE needs part of my hard-earned money.

It was the last day to file taxes, so my accountant faxed me the sheet I needed to sign so he could e-file them. I got the fax and I almost crapped my pants. I owe almost four times as much in taxes as I did last year and the previous years. WHAT? Apparently I jumped tax brackets. I didn't make THAT much more last year. Certainly not enough to justify this amount in taxes. I talked to my accountant, and he said after we have Brian's info my taxes could go down some. Some? How about 5 or 6 grand? So, I'm freaking out about that.

Then, Brian's taxes are late because we, for some reason, don't have all of his T4s for last year, but it doesn't really matter because he will get money back.

Then, the car has been making a REALLY bad sound lately, like, REALLY bad. And this all happens just after I had taken the car in last week for an oil change, tire rotation and 40-point inspection. So I take it back to the mechanic and they look at it and tell me some stupid part is broken and it is going to cost $130 to replace it. That is, of course, on top of the already $500+ we need to put into the car. So I made an appointment and the car is going in next Monday to get fixed...growl.

And the other day we were driving home and our friend, who is a cop, pulled up next to us and told us that our registration was expired on our car. DOH! So it had expired in March. So yesterday I went into the registry place to register the car and renew my licence since it expires this month on my birthday. So I go up to the counter and the give the girl my thing I keep in my car with my insurance and registration. Turns out the insurance paper I had in the car was expired -- just the sheet, not my insurance. She said, just call your insurance company and they can fax us a current statement. So I call my insurance company and the lady says it will be at that fax number within an hour. So I sit and wait...and wait...and wait...and wait. And hour passes so I call the insurance company back. The lady I talk to this time says it takes about 2 hours to get a fax sent. Well, needless to say, I tore a strip out of her. I let her know that I was not about to wait any longer and that the other lady said it would be there within the hour. The registry would be closed in an hour and I certainly wasn't going to wait for another hour anyway. So then the lady says, Well, can I email it to them? So I go and find out and they can. It is there while I'm still on the phone with the lady. WHY ARE THERE MONKIES RUNNING MY INSURANCE COMPANY???? Why didn't they suggest that in the first place? Why didn't the first lady tell me it would take two hours? GROWL.... So an hour and a half after getting to the registry I finally leave after paying $130 to register the car and renew my licence.

So then the Flames lost last night...just to top off a bad day LOL.

Signed,

Cranky pregnant lady.

Cheescakes, chicitas and chocolate!

Last night Jen, Alyson and Tammy came over. What a riot! I haven't laughed THAT much in a LONG time. With Jen and I being as pregnant as we are, I was hoping at least one of us would go into labour, but no such luck. We seriously spent four hours laughing...okay, and eating. I just did up some veggies and dips and then crackers and cheese and some brownies...oh, and the Jell-o no-bake oreo cheesecakes...yum!

It is so fun to just hang out with the girlz. I love being so comfortable. And I love when people feel comfortable enough to come to my house in their sweatpants! Brian went to our friends' house and watched the game last night (GO FLAMES GO!). When he got home he went up to bed and put his ear plugs in. He said he could still hear us with his ear plugs in! It was just a ton of fun.

Thanks, girlz! I vote we do this more!

Is this a joke?

So a few weeks ago Brian and I decided to go out for dinner at the Boston Pizza by our house. We know we should be saving our $ for the little one on the way, but we were both too lazy to cook. So we had a great pasta dinner since it was Pasta Tuesday. We paid our bill and on the way out the front door, Brian looks down and there is a $20 bill on the ground. Since it is on the ground he's like, Should we take it? If we take it back inside and no one claims it, then would we get it back? Since it was on the ground we considered it ours and considered dinner pretty much paid for! Lucky us. We just aren't the luckiest people usually.

So then on Monday night after our prenatal class we decided to go to the same Boston Pizza for dinner again. We really don't eat out THAT much, but just lately we have been out a bit. So anyway, we eat dinner, it was really good. As we were walking out the door to the car, I made the joke, So where's our 20 bucks? Right there. There was ANOTHER $20. What the heck is going on? So we considered ourselves lucky again.

At first we kinda felt guilty, but how can anyone claim it is theirs? And it was just sitting there...finders keepers?

If you think we are bad people for keeping the $40, oh well!

Personally...I think we just head back just to see if it happens again LOL. J/K
